Megan & Dennis Goett – Be A Student's Friend Sponsors

In this newsletter, our volunteer spotlight shines on Megan and Dennis Goett. Dennis and Megan have been loyal and active supporters of ICSF in several capacities, with Dennis' relationship beginning with ICSF over 9 years ago. "A friend of mine dragged me along to a Junior Committee meeting and I was hooked," Dennis remembered. "I really enjoyed working directly with the kids and I felt like I was making a difference in another person's life." Since that day, Dennis has held a number of positions within ICSF, including, that of Junior Committee Co-Chair, FRIENDS of Inner-City Scholarship Fund Board Member, First Steps Board Member, and a position on the St. Brigids Advisory Board.

Many recent Junior Committee successes were accomplished while Dennis was Co-Chair, along with Amy McCready and David Smith. Dennis was instrumental in planning field trips to Yankee Stadium with ICSF students, and under his direction, the Junior Committee also developed a tutoring program that meets on Saturdays at St. Brigids on the Lower East Side.

Dennis has also done a tremendous job of introducing ICSF to colleagues, friends, and most importantly, his wife, Megan. Shortly after he and Megan were married they attended an ICSF Award Dinner. At the dinner they heard a speech that by a student who was an academic scholar, athlete, and a Be A Student's Friend scholarship recipient. "We were so touched by her story, we called the next day and asked where to send the check. It is something that both my wife and I feel is important because this donation helps a kid get a leg up in life."

ICSF would like to thank Megan and Dennis for all of their wonderful support. They have been a positive influence in the lives of many students attending an ICSF supported school.
