The Be A Student's Friend program matches a willing sponsor with a low-income student. Donors can choose either to sponsor a high school student for $3,700 per year or an elementary school student for just $2,200 per year. Sponsors interested in underwriting the cost of a pre-kindergarten student can donate at the $1,100 per year level through our First Steps Program. Be A Student's Friend supporters can opt to be anonymous and receive periodic reports on a student's progress, or they can choose to get to know the student personally. Donors and students alike find the sense of accountability built in for both the sponsors and their students to be one of the program's biggest attractions. Our students are very proud to have a sponsor, to know that someone they may never have met cares for them. In spite of great obstacles, Be A Student's Friend students work hard because they know that someone out there believes they can succeed. Hundreds of students are currently on our waiting list, hoping that ICSF will find a sponsor for them as well.
