How to Apply

❖ Be A Student's Friend

The Be A Student's Friend (BASF) scholarship is a need-based scholarship for students who are currently enrolled in one of ICSF's 93 inner-city schools. Families earning $35,000 or less per year may apply. Once awarded, scholarships follow the students until they finish high school, assuming they meet scholarship criteria including income guidelines and minimum grade requirements (at least a 75% grade point average).

The application process begins at the school where the student is enrolled. School principals are responsible for distributing applications to parents each spring. If you are interested in a scholarship for your boy or girl, you must contact the principal of your child's school. The BASF office does not hand out applications directly to parents.

Once your application is approved, your child's name will be put on a wait list. Each year, about 160 students make up this list. Students are generally connected with a sponsor by the end of the school year.
